What do our dreams tell us?

Choice, our Voices, TikTok & the ’Tennessee Three’

Across Republican held states in the US and in other ultra conservative governments we see a common theme emerging...moves to restrict personal choice and erode democratic freedoms. It is a movement doomed to failure. Times are changing and whether it is pro-choice v right to life, the 'Voice' referendum in Australia, trying to ban TikTok or expelling young black lawmakers in Tennessee, bipartisan leaders will reap rewards while extremist policy makers will ultimately taste defeat. You cannot hold back the future.

Trump indictment...a threshold to a new era

The former President of the US, Donald Trump, has been indicted. Never before in the history of this country has a former President faced criminal prosecution yet if we look closely at his behaviour before, during and after his presidency, we should not be surprised. Neither should his allies, however their choice was always the easy way...defend him or risk losing their voters. And so their feigned moral outrage is just that...fake and cowardly. This is the start of a new era in the US and one where the criminal indictment of former president Trump was necessary and predictable.

Can democracy survive populism & extremism?

In today's episode I look at the former populist leaders who have lost power in the past few years, including former US President trump, who is now facing legal investigation, while others are under parliamentary enquiry. I ask the questions…are we through the worst or are there more threats to come?

Today I talk to Australian financial journalist Jacquelene Pearson about the recent crash of the Silicone Valley Bank in the US and its global implications. Jackie has also just had her poetry book Mother's Song published and we talk about the value of reading and writing in a social media driven age.
